Wedding Furniture Sets in Nepal — Complete Daijo Packages Made to Order

A Nepali wedding is not complete without daijo, the furniture and household goods a family sends with the bride to begin her new home with dignity. At Niraj Furniture in Boje Pokhari, Imadol, Lalitpur, we have spent years building daijo sets for families across the Kathmandu Valley and beyond, and we understand that this furniture carries meaning far beyond its function. Every panel of wood, every polish coat, and every fitted hinge is a quiet statement of the love and respect a family wants to send along with their daughter.

Whether your family follows a strictly traditional carved style passed down through generations, or you and your partner prefer clean modern lines that suit a small apartment, our workshop can build both — and match them so every piece in the bride's new room feels like it belongs together. We coordinate timelines around your actual lagan date, not a generic delivery window, because we know a wedding cannot wait for a late shipment.

What a Complete Daijo Set Includes

Families often ask us what actually belongs in a modern daijo set. Traditionally the core has always been a double bed, a large wardrobe, and a dressing table — the three anchors of the bride's new bedroom. Over the last decade, most families in Lalitpur, Kathmandu, and Bhaktapur have expanded this to include a sofa set for receiving guests, a dining table for the new household, and increasingly a TV cabinet, since young couples want their new home to feel complete from day one rather than assembled piece by piece over years.

We can build a set exactly to a family's list, whether that list has been discussed for months or is being finalised two weeks before the lagan. Our team will sit with you, note every item, and confirm what is realistic to produce and deliver within your timeline.

Traditional Carved Style or Modern Minimal — Or Both

Some families want the heavy carved teak look that has defined Nepali wedding furniture for generations: deep floral or peacock motifs on headboards and wardrobe doors, brass fittings, and a rich dark polish. Others, especially couples moving into a compact flat in Imadol or Sanepa, prefer flat-panel modern wardrobes and platform beds with a lighter walnut or oak finish that suits smaller rooms and modern interiors.

We do not force one aesthetic. Our craftsmen are equally comfortable carving a traditional headboard by hand or producing a minimal, laminate-finished modern set. Many families now mix both — a traditional dressing table alongside a modern wardrobe — and we make sure the wood tone and hardware still read as one coordinated set.

Matching Wood Finish Across Every Piece

Nothing looks more out of place in a new bride's room than furniture that was clearly bought from different shops at different times. Because every piece in your daijo set is built in the same workshop from the same batch of timber, we can guarantee the polish, grain direction, and stain colour match exactly across the bed, wardrobe, bedside tables, dressing table, and any additional pieces like a sofa or dining set. If a family adds an item later — say a bookshelf a year after the wedding — we keep a record of the original finish specification so we can match it again.

Setting Up the Bride's Room

For many families, the daijo furniture is delivered directly into the room the bride will live in after marriage, whether that is a room in the groom's family home or a newly rented flat. Our delivery team does not just drop off boxes — we assemble every piece on site, position it according to the family's wishes, and do a final polish wipe-down so the room is ready to be decorated with flowers, garlands, and the ceremonial items placed for the bride's arrival.

Delivery Timed to the Lagan Date

We treat the lagan date as a hard deadline, not a target. Once you confirm your order, we build a production schedule working backward from that date, with buffer days built in for polish drying time and any last-minute item additions. If your date falls during a busy wedding period, we will tell you honestly at the time of booking whether we can meet it, rather than promising and delivering late.

Gift Wrapping, Ribbon, and Presentation

Daijo furniture is often displayed to relatives before it leaves for the bride's new home, so presentation matters. On request, we wrap finished pieces with ribbon, add a small floral or shubh-labh (auspicious sign, a symbol of prosperity often marked at Nepali ceremonies) sticker to the wardrobe or bed, and can arrange the pieces for a short photo or display session before they are moved, so relatives attending the daijo showing see the furniture at its best.

Name and Date Engraving on Headboards

Many couples ask us to engrave the bride and groom's names, or the wedding date, onto the headboard or the inside of the wardrobe door as a lasting keepsake. This is a small custom touch that takes little extra time but is something couples tell us they treasure years later. Let us know at the time of ordering so the engraving can be worked into the finishing schedule.

Wedding Season Booking Timeline

We strongly recommend booking your daijo order six to eight weeks before your lagan date. This gives our workshop enough time to source matched timber, complete carving or detailing work, apply and dry multiple polish coats, and schedule a delivery slot that will not clash with other weddings landing on the same auspicious dates.

Two periods of the year are especially busy for wedding furniture in Nepal: Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December) and the Magh-Falgun window (mid-January to mid-March), both considered highly auspicious for lagan ceremonies. Because so many families schedule weddings in these months, our production calendar fills early, and popular finish and carving styles can be booked out weeks in advance. If your date falls in either window, we recommend contacting us as soon as your lagan date is fixed, even if final item selection is not yet decided.

We do keep limited rush-order capacity for the Saral Package outside of peak season, generally completing a straightforward bed-and-wardrobe order in under three weeks when timber stock allows. Rush capacity during Mangsir and Magh-Falgun is very limited, so please call ahead rather than assuming a late booking can be accommodated.

Booking checklist

  • 6-8 weeks before lagan for standard packages
  • 10+ weeks before lagan if ordering during Mangsir or Magh-Falgun
  • Call directly to check rush availability for smaller orders

Reserve your wedding furniture date

Give us the date of your lagan, puja or opening and we work backwards from it: production slot, finishing time, delivery and installation. We confirm the plan by phone and quote after a free consultation or field visit — we never publish figures online.

Or call +977 9801-234567 — we hold a production slot as soon as the date is confirmed.
