Furniture in Bhaisepati — Custom Made & Delivered from Our Imadol Workshop

Bhaisepati is the Valley's planned-housing belt: colony developments with uniform plot sizes, wide internal roads, and large individual houses on the ridge above the Nakhkhu river, many built by returnee and diaspora families. Ceiling heights of 10 ft, master bedrooms of 13x15 ft and separate formal dining rooms are normal here — the opposite of the apartment brief we handle in Koteshwor.

That changes what we build. Bhaisepati orders are typically whole-house: a large dining table for eight or ten, a walk-in wardrobe or a pair of full-wall units, a formal sofa arrangement for the ground floor plus a softer family sitting set upstairs, and a kitchen with an island. Budgets are higher and so are expectations about wood grade — most Bhaisepati clients choose seasoned Sal or imported teak over ply-based construction, and ask to see the timber before it is cut.

The colonies also have practical advantages for us. Roads are wide enough for a full-size truck, gates are set back, and stairwells in these houses are broad, so almost nothing needs to be knock-down. That means we can build heavier one-piece frames — a solid ten-seat dining table top, for example — which are stronger and age better than assembled equivalents.
